School History
St. Aloysius Technical School, established by the Spanish Jesuit missionaries, was originally situated in the industrial city of Wuhu, Anhwei province, Mainland China. The purpose of establishing the school was to answer the need to raise the standard of industrial and technical skill of the local people. As a consequence, raising the standard of living of the people in the area and contributing to the overall economic development of the whole country. These Jesuits, expelled from China by the communist, came to Taiwan to continue their missionary work among the Chinese whom they loved. Realizing that there was a great need for industrial and technical skill, they re-established St.Aloysius in the small agricultural town of Hsinpu, Hsinchu County. St. Aloysius started in Taiwan as an extension school where local people learned new techniques and improved their skills on Saturday evenings from 6:30 to 10:30. As the number of students increased, the old classrooms in the compound of the Catholic Church became inadequate. A search for a new and bigger location was launched. In 1956, a piece of land in Sze Tzuo Lih was bought. Construction of the classrooms began immediately. And in November of 1956 St.Aloysius moved in the present site.
